Music Opportunities

All our children have a music education as part of the National Curriculum. All children learn to develop their listening, performing and composing skills; they all have an opportunity to take part in our annual performances: the Christmas Singalong, the nativity play, the music concert and our end of year production.

All junior children also learn an instrument. Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 learn the recorder with Mrs Montague-Smith, Mrs Normington and Mrs Crump. Y6 children learn the handbells during the Autumn Term with Mrs Gordon-Finlayson, a local enthusiast. We use the bells from the church and participate in their services.

In addition, we offer peripatetic lessons in brass instruments and guitar for individuals / small groups of musicians. For this, there is a charge - see the Charging and Remissions Policy below.

Annual cluster events offer opportunities for our children perform in large group concerts. These include the Languages Festival and Music for a Summer's Evening.
