Admissions: Applying for a Place in Reception
By law a child does not have to start school until the term following their fifth birthday however most children start school in the September following their fourth birthday. Applications have to be made via Wiltshire Council and can be made online.
All offers will be for a full time place but if you would prefer your child to attend part-time or delay entry until later in the year please contact the school direct to arrange this.
Admissions: Applying for a Place in Other School Years
Before a child is admitted to the school in any other year apart from Reception an In-year Transfer Application Form should be completed by the child’s parent or guardian. These can be obtained from the school or downloaded from Wiltshire Council via this link In-year Transfer Form and should be returned to Wiltshire Council when completed.

Secondary Transition
At the end of Year 6, children transfer to secondary school; the majority of our children go to St John’s Marlborough; one or two choose to attend Ridgeway School, Wroughton. Eitherway, applications for a place at secondary school must be made through Wiltshire Council in the Autumn term of Year 6. The deadline for secondary school admissions is midnight on 31 October 2022. Your child will bring home a form or you can apply online.
Transfer arrangements for our Year 6 pupils going to St John’s Marlborough are sent to parents during the Spring Term prior to their children starting in September. These arrangements include visits to Ogbourne Primary School by St John’s staff, visits made to St John’s by our Year 6 pupils and Parents Evenings when you can visit the school and meet the teachers who will be directly involved with your child.
